Florian Slowiak
Florian J. Slowiak, 84, of rural Augusta, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday morning, Sept. 1, 2016.

Florian Joseph Slowiak was born March 15, 1932 in Stanley, WI. He was one of 7 children born to Theodore and Mary (Szczech) Slowiak. Florian was raised in the Stanley area where he graduated from high school. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict and also an additional two years with the National Guard. On Nov. 30, 1954, he was united in marriage to Renee Gullickson at the U.S. Naval Base in San Pedro, California. Following his discharge the couple returned to Wisconsin, where they farmed in Bridge Creek Township, rural Augusta. Florian was an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Augusta and was currently a member of St. Raymond of Penafort Catholic Church in Brackett. He was a member of the Osseo American Legion and of the Knights of Columbus of St. Raymond Parish. Florian enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, shaking dice over a cup of coffee and watching the Green Bay Packers.

Florian will be deeply missed by his children, Florian Slowiak Jr. of Madison and Anita Turner of St. Paul; 5 grandchildren, Lucy (Craig) DuMarce, Thomas (Melissa) Daniels, Cody Radach, Sara Turner and Matthew Turner; 2 sisters, Marcella (Karl) Oemig of Shell Lake, Rosie (Armin) Bartz of Maplewood, MN; in-laws, Marion Serocki of Thorp, Helen Sloviak and Margaret Slowiak both of Stanley, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Florian was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Renee on May 22, 2009; children, Barbara Forsberg and Anthony Slowiak; son-in-law Gregg Turner; and siblings, Carl and Felix Slowiak, Alex Sloviak, and Emily Ryba.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at St. Raymond of Penafort Catholic Church in Brackett, with services at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be given to help Augusta area senior citizens through the Augusta Meals on Wheels Program or to Moore Genuine Care of Augusta.
