Richard Marten
Richard A. Marten, 75, of the Foster area of rural Fall Creek passed away suddenly on Tuesday morning, Jan. 26, 2016 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Richard Armin Marten was born in Eau Claire on November 10, 1940 to Armin and Garnett (Schwoch) Marten. He was raised on a farm in Lincoln Township, rural Fall Creek and graduated from Fall Creek High School in 1958. After his graduation he worked on the family farm until 1964, when he purchased his farm in Clear Creek Township. He fully operated this farm until his retirement and still continued to raise crops with the help of his nephew. Richard eventually built a new home on this property and after his parents retired in 1990 they moved in with him. He was a life long baptized and confirmed member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Fall Creek, where he served on the cemetery board and played on the church dart ball team. For many years he enjoyed league bowling in Eau Claire, bowling for Mondovi Implement. Through the years Richard had also enjoyed playing soft ball in the Foster area, golfing, snowmobiling, hunting, spending time with family and friends and his outings with cousin Tootie and Gloria Bucholz.

Richard will be deeply missed by his sister Helen Dahm of Boyd; brothers, Lawrence “Gus” Marten of Altoona, and Raymond (Diane) Marten of Ronan, Montana; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father on Feb. 14, 1997; mother on June 20, 1999; and son-in-law, Marlyn Dahm.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Fall Creek, with Pastor Carlton Kangas officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
