Marcel Thoma
Marcel Leo Thoma, 80, of the Foster area of rural Osseo, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 8, 2015 at the Mayo Clinic Health System-Osseo.

Marcel was born Dec. 13, 1934 in Hale Township of Trempealeau County. He lived the first few years of his life in Hale and was baptized at St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Independence. As a child he moved with his family to Allen and was confirmed at Holy Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Brackett. Marcel attended country school in Allen and graduated in Osseo from Lincoln Hills High School in 1952. Marcel was united in marriage to Marie Smith on May 1, 1954 at Holy Guardian Angels, and to this union 6 children were born. After their marriage the couple lived in Allen before moving to Mondovi in the early 1960’s. While in Mondovi he worked several years as the Chief of Police and for 30 years he was also employed at Uniroyal Tire Company in Eau Claire. Later in his life he moved to Eau Claire and shortly before retiring in 1988, he had moved to his present home in Foster. Marcel loved going to auctions where he would bid on items that needed fixing, if it made it home with him he did his best to repair and resale it. He also enjoyed the outdoor life in Wisconsin; fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. In years past he had been a member of the local snowmobile club in Brackett. Marcel was especially fond of eagles and over the years had acquired quite a vast collection.

Marcel will be dearly missed by his 6 children, Mark (Carol) Thoma of Renton, WA, Jeanne (Ben) Weiss of Eau Claire, Cyndy (Jim) Fitzgerald of Osseo, Theresa (Paul) Prissel of Eleva, Mary (Chris) Nysven of Osseo, Paula (John) Massad of LaPlata, Maryland; sister Mary Ann Haas of rural Augusta; 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jacob, Lawrence, Albert and Jerome Thoma; and long time companion Ruth Kremer.

A visitation to celebrate Marcel’s life will be held Monday, Dec. 14, 2015 from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta. A private family service will be held with Father David Rybicki officiating, with burial in Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery in Brackett.
