Richard Running
Richard Earl Running, age 68, of Eau Claire, WI, passed away on Monday Dec. 14, 2015, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Richard was born on Feb. 1, 1947 in Eau Claire, son of Earl and Dorothy (Johnson) Running. He graduated from Memorial High School Class of 1965. Richard married Ranae Abley on June 3, 1972 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fall Creek, WI. They resided in Eau Claire most of their married life.

Over the years he worked at Wilbur’s Mobil Service, Uniroyal, Wisconsin Lift Truck and Alter Metals & Recycling. He was an experienced and accomplished mechanic, a trait he passed on to his two sons.

In his teen years he ski jumped for the Flying Eagles Ski Club. He served in the Army Reserves as a heavy equipment mechanic from 1966 to 1972. He raised beef cattle with his dad and found much enjoyment being around the cattle, horses and machinery. He loved his John Deere tractors and was an avid collector of all things John Deere. He loved the Green Bay Packers and rooted for # 87. He loved fishing and had many great fishing trips with his fishing buddy and brother-in-law Warren Jeffers.

Richard was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family and enjoyed spending lots of time with his sons and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.

Richard is survived by Ranae, his wife of 43 years; two sons, Robert (Renee) of Appleton, Ryan of Eau Claire, ; his mother Dorothy of Eau Claire; four sisters, Sandra Running of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Karen (Bryan) Van Loo of Lac Du Flambeau, Laurie (Ken) Klemm of Goodland, KS, Kris Running of Daniel, WY; five grandchildren, Gabrielle, Fredrick, Rebecca, Leila and Carly; many nieces and nephews. Richard was honored to be god father to two special people, Amber Dehnke and Mariah Mayers. He was preceded in death by his father Earl Running.

Richard’s faith in his Lord was strong and uplifting. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Fall Creek, with Pastor Carlton Kangas officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
