Myrtle Ann Page, 93 of Augusta, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015 at the Augusta Area Nursing Home. 

Mert was born June 6, 1922 to Percy and Marie (Murphy) Higgins in Tomahawk, WI. Mert was raised in Tomahawk, where she graduated from Tomahawk High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Arvid Page in Philips, WI, on Dec. 15, 1943. The couple lived in Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon and Arizona before moving to Augusta in 1978. While in Augusta she had worked for Bill Nelson in the bakery and enjoyed volunteering as a kitchen worker at the Augusta Senior Center, with the Western Dairyland’s Commodities Program and delivering Meals on Wheels with St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Anyone who knew Mert will remember her as a caring and loving soul with a wonderful sense of humor. 

Mert is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jonna Page and grandson John Page both of Madison. She will also be dearly missed by her long time dearest friends, Judy Rineck of Augusta; and her family, Randy Rineck of Minneapolis; Renee and Gary Barka of Augusta; and their 2 sons, Jesse and his wife Danielle and son, Eli Samuel Barka and Trevor Barka. Mert was preceded in death by her husband Arvid; son Gary; siblings, Margaret, Gert, Ruth, June, Jean and John; and dear friend Sam Rineck. 

Private services will be held at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Tomahawk. Arrangements by Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
