Elaine Paddock
Elaine Caroline (Osborn) Paddock, of Augusta, 95 years young, a proud nonagenarian, died Saturday morning, Jan. 24, 2015 at Grace Willowbrook in Eau Claire, her home for the past 6 years. .

Elaine, daughter of Scott and Cora (Gerike) Osborn, was born on September 14, 1919 at her parents’ home in the city of Augusta. She was baptized, confirmed and attended school at Grace Lutheran Church, where she remained a lifelong member, enjoying Ladies Aid and Ladies Rallies.

Elaine was united in marriage to Edgar W. Paddock, by Rev. Otto List at the Grace parsonage on October 14, 1937. They were blessed with three sons, Robert, Dale and John. Until moving into Augusta in 1975, the couple and family farmed in Diamond Valley, Town of Bridge Creek, where Elaine consistently helped with morning and evening milking and with field work, particularly during haying time. Elaine and ‘Bill’, as many folks knew Edgar, eventually moved into Augusta in 1975.

Whether in the country or the city, Elaine loved her flowers; tuberous begonias in the summer, African violets throughout the year; flowers of all kinds and colors.
When she found time to play, her favorites were the card game ‘500’, featured in weekly neighborhood card parties, and later ‘Kings Corners’. She also liked to fish, often taking her boys to Diamond Valley Creek on opening day of trout season, once catching a 16-inch Brookie in the rain.
Elaine loved to play the piano as well, encouraging her sons to take lessons; 33% of them (John) eventually took her up on the suggestion.

Elaine Paddock is survived by sons, Robert (Joyce), Dale (Bonnie) and John (Ann) Paddock; as well as 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and neighbors also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar in 2006; her parents; 2 brothers, Gerald and Clyde Osborn; grandson James S. Paddock and daughter-in-law Judy Paddock.

Elaine always considered her lucky number to be 4 - and, with her passing, she was 1) baptized, 2) confirmed, 3) married, and now 4) the recipient of a Christian burial, all at Grace Lutheran Church.

Her favorite biblical passage is from the King James edition: Rev. 2, Verse 10: “Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life”.
Elaine was a grand, thoughtful, practical lady who worked hard, readily shared her wisdom with others, laughed enthusiastically and loved unconditionally.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta, with Pastor Jonathan Wessel officiating. Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery, Augusta. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church..

Memorials will go to the Augusta Area Foundation Paddock Family Scholarship.
