Marian Olson
Marian A. Olson, 83, of Fall Creek, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 12, 2015, at the Fall Creek Valley Care Center.

Marian A. Olson, daughter of Norris and Edna (Knudtson) Koxlien was born May 28, 1931 in Curran Valley of Jackson County, Wisconsin. She was raised in the Curran Valley area, where she attended school, was baptized into the Lutheran faith in Pigeon Falls and confirmed in Blair. On August 20, 1948, Marian was united in marriage to Loren Olson at the Lutheran parsonage in Pigeon Falls. The couple lived all their married life in Fall Creek, where they both worked at and eventually owned and operated Olson’s Shell Service Station. For 34 years Marian worked along side her husband in the business, taking care of the books, running for parts and anything else that needed to be done. In addition to raising their daughter Diane, she enjoyed her role as homemaker, and cherished the opportunity to bake for the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was well known in the Fall Creek area for her gifted sewing ability. She not only sewed for her family, but took on sewing and altering for others, and over the years sewed many fleece coats. Marian also enjoyed telling stories, attending thrift sales, fishing, dancing with her husband, as well as traveling throughout several states in their motor home and going nearby on many weekend camping and fishing trips. Marian and Loren had been members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fall Creek for 67 years. After suffering a stroke, she had been a resident of the Fall Creek Valley Care Center since September of 2012.

Marian will be dearly missed by Loren, her loving husband for 66 years; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Vern Ming of Fall Creek; 3 grandsons, Bret and Cindy Ming and their daughters, Emily and Karlee of Eau Claire, Joe Ming and his sons, Tyler, Luke, Josh and Seth of Fall Creek, Jason and Angie Ming and their children, Jake and Hannah of Eau Claire; sister, Arleen Maug of Eau Claire; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Norma Haugen, Merlin and Edgar Koxlien.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fall Creek, with Pastor Larry Borgelt officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Cemetery in Fall Creek. Friends may call 1 hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.

Loren and his family would like to thank the staff of the Fall Creek Valley Care Center for taking such wonderful care of Marion while she was a part of their family. The kindness shown to both Marion and Loren will never be forgotten.
