William Mierow
William J. Mierow, “Bill”, 85, of Augusta, passed away late Wednesday evening, May 6, 2015, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

William John Mierow, son of John and Amanda (Zastrow) Mierow, was born April 17, 1930 in Augusta. He attended school in Augusta, graduating from Augusta High School in 1948. Following graduation Bill attended Eau Claire Teacher's College until enlisting in the United States Navy in January of 1949; serving one active tour and 6 years inactive. Following his active service he started with Sterling Pulp and Paper Company in Eau Claire, working there for nearly 2 years. In December of 1951, Bill embarked on his 38 years of employment with Wisconsin Central Airlines, working with them through several name changes; North Central, Republic Airlines, and when he retired in 1989, he was working for Northwest Airlines. Throughout his career he had worked 6 months in Norfolk, Nebraska, 3 years each in Fairmont, Minnesota, and LaCrosse, before moving back to Augusta, when he took the station agent position at the Eau Claire Municipal Airport , working there until his retirement. Bill was united in marriage to Susan Ogren on October 4, 1958, at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Frederic, Wisconsin. With his wife and family, Bill had enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, playing cards and shaking dice. He took pride in keeping his home, cars and lawn up to the best of his ability. In recent years Bill's health kept him from many of his activities, but he still looked forward to spending time with his family and the fellowship of his friends and neighbors.

Bill will be dearly missed by Sue, his loving wife of 56 years; daughter, Ann (David) Peche of Menomonee Falls; 2 sons, Lee (Kelly) Mierow of Green Bay, Brett (Collette) Mierow of Duluth, MN; 10 grandchildren, Ben Peche (Kalin Garvans), Dustin Peche, Tanner, Tyler, Tatum, Hailee and Hanna Mierow, Allison Mierow (Steve Walters), Alexis Mierow (Zack Ziells), Carter Mierow; 2 great grandchildren, Easton Mierow and Hazel Ziells; sister-in-law, Shirley Mierow of Sebastian, FL; and several cousins.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother John; and John’s children, John and Noreen.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 11, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Augusta, with Pastor Gary Sahs officiating. Burial with military rites will be held in the East Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.
