Hazel McLeod
Hazel McLeod, 95, of Eau Claire, passed away in hospice care at Grace Willowbrook Assisted Living in Eau Claire. 

Hazel Helen McLeod, daughter of John and Ida (Harke) Honadel was born Nov. 1, 1919 in Lincoln Township, rural Augusta. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church - Bears Grass, rural Augusta. She graduated from Augusta High School in 1937. Following graduation she began her employment with Uniroyal Tire Company in Eau Claire, working there until her retirement in 1982. Hazel was united in marriage to Donald H. McLeod on Sept. 15, 1951, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. The couple lived all their married life in Eau Claire. In August of 2014, Hazel moved to Grace Willowbrook. Before her husband passed away in August of 2000, she and Don enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. She was also interested in collecting antiques and all types of jewelry. Through her church she enjoyed her involvement with St. Matthew’s Ladies Society and helping out at Bethesda Thrift Shop. Hazel especially looked forward to spending time with her extended family and many friends. As long as she was able, she always took part in all the family functions, often attending them as well as other outings with her niece Phyllis Heffernan. Hazel will be remember for her pleasant personality, and any time spent with her was not only enjoyable, but very memorable.  

She will be dearly missed by her sisters-in-law, Pearl McLeod of Minneapolis, Delia McLeod of New Auburn; 5 nieces, Darlene (Bill) Masters of Rosemount, MN, Karen (Garry) Gunderson of Fairchild, Darlene Honadel of Augusta, Carol (Robert) Zartner of Dayton, MN, Jan (Sheridan) Timms of Waconia, MN; 2 nephews, Kenneth (Fay Ann) McLeod of Eau Claire, Thomas (Barbara) McLeod of Maplewood, MN; several great nieces, nephews and their families; and special friends and neighbors, John and Margaret Dimpfel of Eau Claire. She was also preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Mabel Schacht, Arthur, Clara and Elmer Honadel; nephew Dale Honadel; niece Phyllis Heffernan; great nephew Gregory Gunderson; and brothers-in-law, Frank and Kenneth McLeod. 

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 13, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, with Pastor Steve Rutter officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery in Washington Township. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the church.  

The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta. 

Hazel’s family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at Grace Willowbrook and St. Joseph’s Hospice for the wonderful care shown to Hazel at this time in her life.
