Gwendolyn Marion
Gwendolyn Marion “Gwen”, 99, of Eau Claire, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Gwendolyn May Marion was born July 17, 1916 in Fall Creek, one of 8 children born to Fredric and Leila (Ingle) Henning. She was raised in rural Eau Claire County where she was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Seymour Township. She also attended rural country school. Gwen was united in marriage to Roman J. Marion on September 30, 1934 in Fall Creek, Wisconsin. The couple lived all their married life in the town of Wilson, where they raised their son Gilbert “Sam” Marion. After her husband passed away in 1967, she moved to her home in Eau Claire, where she was employed as a nursing assistant at the Mount Washington Home for 13 years, retiring in 1981. Gwen loved spending time with her family and friends. Over the years she also enjoyed the beauty of her many flower gardens and spent many hours knitting and crocheting. Anyone who was fortunate to receive one of her projects were certainly blessed.

Gwen will be dearly missed by her daughter-in-law, Linda Marion of Eau Claire; sister-in-law, Irene Henning of Eau Claire; grandson, Gregory Marion of Eau Claire; granddaughter, Roxanne Page, (Todd) of Whittemore, Iowa; 6 great grandchildren, Darcy (Russ) Gabert, Kimberly Marion, Kelly (Matt) Schrauth, Samuel Page, Ashley Marion and Roman Marion; 8 great-great grandchildren, Tayler and Dakota Brady, Miranda Boelkes, Karrson Marion, Allyson Hilger, Trenton, Noah and Payton; and many nieces and nephews.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, Fredric and Leila; son, Gilbert “Sam” Marion on Sept. 2, 2010; sisters Phyllis (Lawrence) Steinke, Gladys (Leonard) Lange, Carol (Emil) Bauer; and 4 brothers, Fritz (Arlene) Henning, Glen (Edna) Henning, Roscoe (Sara Ann) Henning and Leonard Henning.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, with Pastor Steve Rutter officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Seymour Township, Eau Claire County. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
