Arlys Lone
Arlys L. Lone, 89, of Augusta, passed away at her home on Tuesday morning, September 22, 2015.

Arlys Lorraine Lone, daughter of Henry and Myrtle (Fitch) Henning was born September 19, 1926. She was raised in Wilson Township of Eau Claire County where she attended Full Gospel Mission Church and country school. Arlys graduated from Augusta High School with her childhood sweetheart and future husband, Donald Swatzina. After Don was honorably discharged during W.W. 2 from the United States Navy, the couple were united in marriage on June 29, 1946 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Boyd. Together the couple built their home in the rural Boyd area where they started their family with the birth of Jeanine and later followed by Darlene. With Don, Arlys enjoyed listening to the songs he had written and the band he was part of. Sadly Don was stricken with cancer and passed away on Sept. 1, 1954 at the age of 27.

Arlys and her daughters continued to live in their home in Boyd, and at this time in her life she started attending the First Baptist Church in Augusta. She was introduced to Lillian Lone and Lillian in turned introduced her to her son, Gordon. Arlys married the 2nd first love of her life, Gordon on May 15, 1957 at the First Baptist Church in Augusta and to this union 7 children were born . Arlys and Gordon lived most of their married life in the Town of Bridge Creek, just east of Augusta. When Gordon retired they moved to their home in Fairchild Township. After Gordon passed away on January 30, 1993, Arlys moved to her home in the city of Augusta.

For 34 years Arlys had worked in the dietary department of the Augusta Area Nursing Home, retiring at the age of 78. Arlys was a wonderful warm hearted, gentle and loving woman. She was not only a caring mother but opened her home and heart to many foster children and individuals who just needed attention. She was an avid reader, was interested in history and kept abreast of current affairs and politics. She was a terrific cook who loved spending time with her large family, especially the little children. She also had a definite soft spot for her dogs. Arlys was mentally sharp to the end and because she was such a great sounding board, she often helped many solve problems with dignity and wisdom or by quoting a bible verse or two.

She will be deeply missed by her 6 children, Darlene and Joseph Young of Franklin,WI, Vonnie and John Grindle of Boyd, Gary Lone and Shelly LeBarron Glenn and Judy Lone all of Augusta, Loren and Donna Lone of rural Fairchild, Fred Lone of Augusta; son-in-law, Dennis Theiler of rural Fairchild; 25 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and numerous foster children. She is further survived by in-laws, Joanne Quilling, Dale and Linda Lone, John and Ione Lone all of Augusta. In addition to Don and Gordon’s passing, Arlys was also preceded in death by her parents Henry and Myrtle; infant twin children, Ruth Ann and Brent Allen Lone in Feb. of 1962; daughter Jeanine Theiler on March 8, 2005; and grandson Michael Lone on Dec. 2, 2008.

Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 25, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Augusta.
