Robert Lahn
Robert Francis Lahn was reunited with his wife Joyce on Friday, December 11, 2015 at the Fall Creek Valley Care Center surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born March 26, 1927 on his family farm in the township of Fairchild, WI, to Carl and Jenny (McGaver) Lahn. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 4 sisters, along with his beloved wife Joyce Jane (Jones) Lahn, who was waiting with open arms.

Bob graduated in 1946 from Fairchild High School. He was drafted into the United States Army in his senior year and was unable to make it to his commencement ceremony. Bob ended his time in service on a call-up list and was honorably discharged in 1947. Bob returned to Fairchild and for 8 years he worked the family farm and also for neighbors. At the age of 26 he moved to Milwaukee, where he was employed at P&H Harnischfeger Corporation as an Inspector of Quality Control.

During his time with Harnischfeger, Bob was a Senior Stewart for 29 years and on the Bargaining Committee for 18 years, a position where he represented 2900 co-workers. He was also on the Fire Brigade for 29 years and the Safety Committee.

Bob married Elizabeth Rosecrans Mallory and raised her 3 children; Greg, Chris and Sarah. Bob later connected with an old “High School Flame”, Joyce Jane Jones and they were married in a Lutheran church service in Milwaukee on April 28, 1973. Joyce came as a package deal with 5 sons ranging from teenage to young adult; Jeff, Steve, Craig, Brian and Bruce Cleveland. The family took up residence in New Berlin.

Hunting was a favorite hobby of Bob's. He enjoyed many pheasant and duck hunts in South Dakota, Kansas and Wisconsin. He also loved to deer hunt in Wyoming and Wisconsin. Fishing was also a favorite of his with his many trips to Canada and the various lakes in northern Wisconsin. He really enjoyed fishing Lake Michigan with his brother John and the boys. Bob also loved to garden and shot trap for both P&H Harnischfeger and in Augusta.
Bob retired in 1989 and moved to Augusta with his wife Joyce, where he became involved in the Dept. of Aging Committee as a representative for the Fairchild and Augusta area. He was on the Variance Committee for the city of Augusta and was an Augusta Legion Post # 291 member.

Bob loved to travel, he had been to all but one state; Hawaii was his most memorable. One of his most memorable trips was with John and Connie Brown and Agnes Miles Lust. Bob and John split the driving in Bob's Food van, driving through Fargo, N.D. into Colorado, across Canada to Alaska. On the west coast of Alaska they boarded a ferry boat with the van. They made several stops along this route and then drove into the state of Washington. Bob continued to talk about the history of building the Alaskan Highway for many years and felt that this should be a trip everyone should take.

Bob was blessed with 22 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Bob was very grateful to have such caring daughters-in-law, especially after the loss of his wife. The girls made sure he was well cared for and his sons took over to complete his “Honey Do List” that he was unable to tackle.

Bob will be deeply missed by his sons, Jeff (Teri) Cleveland of West Allis, Steven (Margaret) Cleveland of Neenah, Craig (Anita) Cleveland, Brian Cleveland (Renee Mayer), Bruce (Pamela) Cleveland all of Augusta; Greg (Betty) Mallory of Roundup, MT, Chris (Julie) Mallory of Monroe, WA, Sarah (Craig) Andrews of Las Vegas, NV; 2 brothers, Leonard (Donna) Lahn of Fairchild, John Lahn of Augusta; sister Carol (Norman) Dux of Oak Creek, 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and number nieces, nephews and other relatives. Bob was preceded in death his wife Joyce on Dec. 17, 2008; parents; siblings, Reinhold, Joanne Haske, Helen Lahn, Alice Kitelinger and Shirley Lahn.

Bob's family would like to express a special thank you to Debbie Buchholz for being a wonderful friend to Bob and cleaning for him for 14 years. The Breaker family for assisting with mail delivery and shoveling, just to name a few. Jerry Gibson for not only checking on Bob but for also spending time visiting with him. Thank you to Tugger for the many soup and packed meals delivered to Bob and finally to everyone at the Fall Creek Valley Care Center, the caring staff, nurses and social worker Becky.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta, with Pastor Jonathan Wessel officiating. Burial will be in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. A visitation will begin on Saturday at the church starting at 11:00 a.m. The family is assisted by Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
