Royce Kuberra
Royce A. Kuberra “Buster”, 84, of Fairchild, passed away Sunday Feb. 8, 2015, at his home.

Royce Alvin Kuberra was a life long resident of Fairchild, where he was born Oct. 6, 1930, son of Alvin and Ella (Eichhorst) Kuberra. He grew up farming and graduated from Fairchild High School in 1948. Buster farmed with his father until entering the U.S. Marine Corp in 1952. Not wanting to accept a desk job during the Korean Conflict, Buster was sent to Korea where he worked as an operator at a water treatment facility. While in the service he spent time in Puerto Rico, where he met the love of his life, Lucy Delia Pemintel. The couple later married on Viegas Island, Puerto Rico on Sept. 26, 1955. After his honorable discharge Buster and Lucy returned to Fairchild, where he farmed until taking a job with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. Buster retired after working 27 years for the railroad. Buster had been a life long member of the Osseo Craig Olson V.F.W. Post #8514 and the Osseo Carl Nelson American Legion Post 0324 where he honorably served with the honor guard for military rites, helped with the adopt a highway program, and with various fund raisers. If you knew Buster, you were probably a recipient of his abundant vegetable gardens. He loved planting a huge garden each year and if Lucy wanted it, and the more difficult a plant was to grow, the more he enjoyed it. He took great pleasure in giving away the produce to anyone who wanted it. He loved the outdoors, hunting, and took pride in keeping his home and yard looking nice.

Buster is survived by his 2 sons, Mark and Doreen Kuberra of Fairchild, Wayne and Trish Kuberra of Gillette, WY; 2 sisters, Wanda Zimmer and Juanita and Robert Gauerke all of Appleton; 4 grandchildren, Kyle, Neil and Harley Kuberra, Brandy Burton,; 3 great-grandchildren, Breanna, Rome and Gavin Burton; 6 step-grandchildren, Jesse, Rochelle, Maiya, Benjamin, Marcus and Mackenzie Luoma; 6 step great grandchildren, Lyra, Salveig, Jones, Blake, Van and Charlie; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy on May 24, 2009; mother, Ella in Feb. of 2005; and father, Alvin in March of 1984.

Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with services at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial with full military rites will be held in the spring in the Fairchild Cemetery.
