Ione Abley
Heavens door opened on Dec. 9, 2015 at 10 a.m. and received Ione Caroline Abley into the Lord's arms.

She was born to Emil and Louise (Senske) Zielsdorf on February 1, 1924 at their residence. She was baptized on February 24, 1924 and confirmed in 1937 into the Lutheran faith.

Ione married Walter Henry Abley on Feb. 22, 1942 at St. John's Lutheran parsonage and they farmed on her rural Augusta birthplace until 1987, when they moved to Eau Claire.

Ione was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed taking pictures of her family, crocheting, embroidering, playing chicken foot and cards. Ione read God's word and was diligent with devotions and prayers. As the Lord guided her through life, she taught her seven children honesty, work ethics and guided their life with equality always praying for them and their safety.

She was a collector of owls, thimbles and many elephants. She enjoyed her many flowers that beautified the inside and the outside of her home. She loved to prepare foods; pancakes, home-baked beans, dumplings, potato salad and angel food cakes were among the foods that she enticed hungry appetites with. She liked to go fishing but always went with an over abundance of food. Taking time from her chores to swing on the swing set with grandchildren or playing catch with great-grandchildren was a simpler form of fun but gave her great pleasures.

Ione stuffed envelopes for and supported the Lutheran Braille workers. Ione enjoyed quilting with her “St. John's ladies and was also adopted by the quilters at Zion Lutheran Church in Clyman, WI, as an official needle threader.

Ione will be deeply missed by her 3 sons, Truman (Reve') Abley of Bismarck, ND, Norman Abley of Strum, Allan (Sally) Abley of Hudson; 4 daughters, Caroline (Warren) Jeffers of Iron Ridge, Ranae (Richard) Running of Eau Claire, Cheryl (David) Knuth of Fall Creek, Rhonda (James) Dehnke of Augusta; 16 grandchildren, LaRae' Riggs, Larissa Abley, Sarita (Stuart) Gruszynski, Jason (Lisa) Jeffers, Kim (Sam) Schlewitz, Christopher Abley, Robert (Renee) Running, Ryan Running, Brandon (Jocelyn) Knuth, Jared Knuth, Amber (Randy) Samens, Dustin Dehnke, Chelsea (Nathan) Grassl, Shantel Dehnke, Blake Dehnke, Brady Dehnke; 19 great-grandchildren, Mallory, Logan and Luke Gruszynski, Griffin and Lillian Jeffers, Diontrey and Zadion Abley, Khalea Schlewitz, Leila Running, Gabrielle Paul, Fredrick, Rebecca and Carly Running, Lincoln, Lyric, Legend and Lennox Myers, Hayley and Brynley Samens; and expecting the 20th. early next year.

Ione was preceded in death by her husband Walter on Feb. 2, 2003; siblings, Fred Herman and Martha Zielsdorf; and infant granddaughter Lanelle Abley.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Fall Creek, with Pastor Carlton Kangas officiating.
