James Waggoner
James D. Waggoner, 69, of Fairchild, WI, passed away Friday afternoon, September 26, 2014, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI.

James Daniel Waggoner, son of Harold and Sophia (Sotkiewicz) Waggoner was born July 31, 1945 in Toledo, Ohio. Jim was raised and attended school in Curtice, Ohio. For nearly 50 years he lived in Curtice until moving to Wisconsin in 1997, first to rural Augusta and then to Fairchild.

While living in Ohio, Jim manufactured eye glass lenses, working in the optical labs of both Toledo Optical and Gudehus Optical. At the age of 50 he developed colon cancer and agreed to take part in a study for experimental chemo and radiation treatment. The treatment was successful and he was cancer free for 19 years. When he moved to the Augusta-Fairchild area he had been employed for a time at Crust Unlimited in Osseo, before working in Augusta in the kitchens of both Chuck’s Black Bear and the Hungry Hunter Café.

Jim was fortunate enough to have grown up, living most of his life near Lake Erie. He enjoyed everything there was about the lake. For a time he had worked for a commercial fishing company and over the years had remained friends with a number of his fellow employees. He loved to travel and as a single father he always treated his son and daughter to fun filled summer vacations, visiting interesting locations and camping along the way. Jim had a love for life, his family and friends. With his witty and wonderful sense of humor he kept everyone he met smiling.

Jim will be deeply missed by his son and daughter, Rolland “Rollie” Waggoner and Joyce (Dusty) Warner all of Fairchild; 4 grandchildren, Heather Waggoner, Michael (Kim) Floriana, Malissa Pettis, Amanda Pettis (Luke Wilson); 3 great grandsons, Isaiah Waggoner, Wesson and Kenneth Floriana; 3 step grandsons, Jordan (Bonnie) Warner, Rylie (Keather) Warner, Chase (Brooke) Warner; 4 step grandchildren, Christian, Maren, McKenna and Ryla Warner. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Brenda Marie Waggoner in infancy.

Memorial services will be held Sat. Oct. 4, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with Pastor Dale Hazard officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Toledo Memorial Cemetery, Toledo, Ohio. A visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
