Robert Vojtik
Robert D. Vojtik, 71, of rural Fairchild, passed away with his family at his side on Friday morning, July 4, 2014, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, following a 3 month struggle with cancer.

Robert Douglas Vojtik was born in Oak Park, Illinois, on September 4, 1942, the son of Frank and Louise (Henzl) Vojtik. At the age of 4, he moved with his family to Fairchild, where he attended elementary school and was with the graduating class of 1960. Following high school Bob enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Berlin Crisis in Germany. Bob was united in marriage to Bonnie Mattson on June 15, 1963 in Madison. The couple lived briefly in Elkhorn, before moving to Kewaskum, where they started their family. In 1969, he moved his family to Madison, at which time he was employed by the ordinance plant in Baraboo. He eventually took a position as manager with an agriculture chemical plant in Madison. In 1981, the family moved back to Bob's home roots of Fairchild, and Bob took a position with Ashley Furniture. Bob retired from employment at Bush Bros. in Augusta. Bob also owned and operated Vojtik Chimney Sweep.

While living in Fairchild, Bob was elected and served several years on the Eau Claire County Board. While on the board he served as the Chairman on the Parks and Forest Committee. During his time with the board he was very influential with the improvement and updates of Coon Fork Park outside of Augusta, especially in the addition of electricity to the park. More recently Bob spent many enjoyable hours helping his son with his hunting preserve outside of Fairchild, from guiding on the deer hunts to the daily feeding ritual on the deer farm. Working with the deer was a wonderful experience for Bob, but also at this time in his life he especially enjoyed the roll of “grandpa.”

Bob will be deeply missed by Bonnie, who he just celebrated 51 years of marriage; 2 sons, Robert and his wife, Pamela Vojtik of Alexandria, VA, Rick and his wife, Thea Vojtik of Fairchild; 7 grandchildren, Ben and Victoria Vojtik, Destiny, Dayne, Della, Devyn and Drake Vojtik; brother, Frank and Betty Vojtik of Madison; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the Fairchild First Responders for the assistance given to them with such compassion. Your support will never be forgotten.
