Elizabeth Trainor
Elizabeth “Ting” Edna Trainor, 94, of Eau Claire, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the Clairemont Nursing Home in Eau Claire.

Ting was born in Camp Crook, S.D. on Dec. 5, 1919 to Albert and Amelia Victoria (Clarkquist) Buchholz. She was the 5th child born to this union, the baby of the family. Her brother Everett couldn’t say “Sweet Thing” (which her mother called her) and that’s when Ting came to be.
Ting met Richard Pettis who taught at her school, they were married on June 13, 1939 at her parent’s home in Augusta. They adopted Vici from the Shodair Children’s Home in Helena, MT, and went by train to pick her up as it was wartime. Barbara Ann was adopted 8 years later. The couple lived in Augusta until they divorced.

In September of 1964, she married Thomas Trainor at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, and the couple lived in Council Bluff, IA. After retiring they lived 17 years in Mission, TX, before moving to Arkansas where they lived 6 years, and then lived a few more years in Cameron, Missouri. In 2004, they moved to Eau Claire, after a flurry of tornadoes touched down close to Cameron. While in Eau Claire they made their home behind Sam’s Club. After Tom passed away Ting moved to the Good Shepherd Apartments. She enjoyed her life at the apartment, where she made some good friends. Her health started failing and in May of this year she had a heart attack and ended up at the Clairemont for rehabilitation. Her health was so precarious she stayed at the Clairemont until her death. Ting had wonderful care at the home and enjoyed her table mates and other residents, plus the great staff on the 700 wing.

Ting is survived by her daughter, Vici Mobraaten (Bill Guns) of Eau Claire; 4 grandchildren, Todd (Veena) Mobraaten, Trent Mobraaten, Kay Taylor (Ryan Fokestad), Jeremiah (Kathy) Knuth; 8 great grandchildren, George and William Mobraaten, Amanda Weggen, Alex, Ian and Bailey Robertson, Jared and Bridgette Knuth; nieces, Dee Lania (Carl) Webb, Rhonda (Dan) Levielle; other relatives and friends.

Ting was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; parents, Albert and Amelia; daughter, Barbara Knuth; granddaughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Knuth; brothers, Bud, Dale and Everett Buchholz; sister, Florence Jehlen; nephew, Pat Holmen; and niece, Roxanne Buchholz.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with burial at a later date in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. A visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home and go until time of services.
