Dale H. Solie, 72, of rural Augusta, passed away Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Dale Henry Solie was born June 15, 1942 in Augusta, the son of Lyle and Sadie (Knuth) Solie. Dale was confirmed on June 24, 1956 at Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta, and it was Grace Lutheran that he continued his membership. He graduated from Augusta High School in 1960, and then was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1963, serving in California and Germany. Following his honorable discharge in 1966, he returned to Augusta. Dale was united in marriage to Mavis Welke on Nov. 21, 1964 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fall Creek. The couple farmed in the Town of Bridge Creek, rural Augusta, from 1967 to 1991. He then made a career change and drove semi truck for Roehl Transport from 1992 -2012, and before retiring he drove part time for Brunzlick Trucking in Augusta, from 2012 – 2013. Dale looked forward to the great times he had with his family during the various hunting and fishing seasons and the ice fishing trips to North Dakota. He loved playing cards and teaching his strategies to his children. Dale especially enjoyed spending time with his family, he and Mavis always made every effort to attend games and school functions that their children and grandchildren participated in.

Dale will be dearly missed by Mavis, his wife of nearly 50 years; 4 children, Mitchell Solie of Eau Claire, Melissa (Tim) Holmes of Boyd, Daniel (Anne) Solie of Augusta, Douglas Solie (Mary Melcher) of Humbird; 9 grandchildren, Charlene, Karley, Tara, Blake, Ashlynn, Ethan, Colton, Sadie and Erin; 2 great grandsons, Isaiah and Jeremiah; siblings, Dean Solie and Janice Solie both of Augusta; brother and sisters–in-law, Paul (Betty) Welke of Fall Creek, Elaine Schmidt of Chippewa Falls and Dorothy Krenz of Eau Claire; other relatives and friends.
