Dorothy Miles
Dorothy L. Miles, 82, formerly of Fairchild and Pigeon Falls, passed away Thursday afternoon at the Augusta Area Nursing Home.
Dorothy Lorraine Miles, daughter of James and Violet (White) Johnson, was born Feb. 10, 1932 in Grabill, Indiana. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith and graduated from Grabill High School. Dorothy was united in marriage to William Miles on Aug. 19, 1950 at Salem Lutheran Church in Harlan, Indiana. The coupled lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana, until moving to Pigeon Falls in 1966. In 1972, they moved to Missouri and had also lived in Oklahoma and Pigeon Falls, before moving to Fairchild in 2002. Dorothy had been a resident of the Blair Nursing Home before entering the Augusta Area Nursing Home.
Dorothy cherished her roll as homemaker and mother to her 5 boys. She had also worked for a time cooking in restaurants and enjoyed the children that she baby sat for.
Dorothy is survived by her 5 sons, Rex Miles of Whitehall, Rick and Mary Miles of Blair, Bill Miles of Osseo, Terry Miles of Neillsville; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; brother, Gilbert and Bev Johnson; and 2 sisters, Kathryn Gustafson and Vinney Johnson. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and son, Mike.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with Pastor Ricky Bertels officiating. Burial will be in the Pigeon Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pigeon Falls. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
