Eilert Honadel
Eilert J.F. Honadel, 84, of Augusta, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on the morning of December 6, 2014, at Oakwood Villa in Altoona, surrounded by family.

Eilert Julius Ferdinand Honadel was born April 9, 1930, the second son of Earl and Louise (Breitenfeldt) Honadel. He was baptized April 20, 1930, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Bears Grass, and confirmed August 1, 1943, also at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He attended grade school at Bears Grass.
On July 23, 1960, Eilert was joined in marriage to Lois Lambrecht at Grace Lutheran Church. They spent 53+ years as best friends. To this union five daughters were born. There were not many times you would ever see Eilert and Lois apart; they were always holding hands and were the perfect model of true love. He cared for her until she required more care than he could offer.
Eilert served our country in the Army from 1954 to 1956. He worked at Dairy Maid Creamery from 1958 to 1966, for the City of Augusta from 1966 to 1968, and for the Augusta School District for 26 years retiring in 1995.

In addition to his work and his family, he was Mr. Fix-It (it was hard to find something that he couldn’t fix), a woodcrafter, gardener (quote-“I have a green thumb & make things grow”), griller, bowler, dart-baller and joker! He also had the gift of creating the most beautiful crocheted pieces. He liked to tell the story of how he got started crocheting when he got in trouble as a youngster!

He will be deeply missed by his daughters – Patti Nicholson of Eau Claire; Anita (Bob) Slate of Spokane Valley, WA; Donna (Tim) Wiese of Eau Claire; Barbara (Dan) Bilz of Milton; and Christine (Ben) Wiedenfeld of Eagan, MN; grandchildren – Aaron (Kristina) Nicholson, Sara (Kale) Brian, Joshua Nicholson; Ryan and Alex Slate; Abbie, Katie, and Sydney Bilz; and Jack and Fox Wiedenfeld; great-grandchildren – Anna Freid, Bentley Nicholson, and Ashlynn Brian; sister – Dorothy (Charles) Kaeding, of Augusta; sisters-in-law – Eleanore Richards of Augusta, Fern Rosentreter of Eau Claire and Jean Honadel of Fall Creek; 2 step-grandchildren – Matthew Nicholson and Tiffany (Jason Woodford) Zimmerman; and 5 step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other friends and family.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Lois, in April of this year; his parents – Earl and Louise; brother – Norman Honadel; brothers-in-law – Lyle Richards and John Rosentreter; and son-in-law – Rodney Nicholson.

Words cannot express the gratitude we have for Dr. Obaid and staff at the Eau Claire Medical Clinic, the doctors and nurses who worked with him at Sacred Heart Hospital, the staff at Dove Healthcare South during his first rehab this year, and the staff at Oakwood Villa for their care the last several weeks. As we watched you work with Eilert, we were moved by the gentleness, the concern, and the genuine love you shared with him on a daily basis. You walked through those days of his journey with us and for that we are forever grateful.
Funeral services will be held December 12, 2014, at 1 PM at Grace Lutheran Church with burial in the West Lawn Cemetery, both in Augusta, with a lunch to follow.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on December 11, 2014, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta and one hour prior to services December 12, 2014, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Grace Lutheran Preschool, Augusta School District, another charity of your choice, or to the family.
