Neil Cook
Neil Cook, 89, of Foster, passed away at his home on Thursday evening, July 17, 2014, in the care of his family and Mayo Hospice.

Neil Cook, son of Samuel and Jessie (Edington) Cook was born Nov. 1, 1924 in rural Wisconsin. As a child he moved with his family to Werner, North Dakota, and returned back to the Osseo area in 1934. Neil farmed all of his life, beginning as a young adult in Otter Creek Township, Eau Claire County. In 1946, Neil began farming with his brother Jack in the town of Clear Creek, Eau Claire County. Neil retired in 1990, but remained on the farm. Neil was united in marriage to Caroline (Markley) Idsvoog on July 13, 1978 in Steven Point, Wisconsin. For many years Neil had served as Board President for the Augusta Farmer’s Union. With Caroline, Neil enjoyed squared dancing and constructing any woodworking project she might want. He also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and was still working crossword puzzles. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Osseo, where he played on their high school’s first football team and also played on the baseball team. Throughout his life he still followed the Osseo high school sports and also loved watching professional baseball and football.

Neil will be deeply missed by his wife, Caroline of Foster; nephew Warren and Dawnette Cook of Foster, and their children, Trevor and Taytum Cook; Caroline’s children from her marriage to Dr. Oris Idsvoog; Philip (Elaine Larson) Idsvoog of Stevens Point, Dr. Peter (Mary) Idsvoog of Madison, Karl (Kathy) Idsvoog of Kent, Ohio, Barbara (Jim) Cifelli of Hastings on the Hudson, New York, and their families; and sister-in-law Louise Cook Egan of Augusta.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jack on Oct. 3, 1988.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 20, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Osseo, with Pastor Les Munnik and Pastor Julie Garber officiating.
