Elmer Wilhelm
Elmer Arthur Wilhelm, 88, of Fall Creek, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Fall Creek Valley Care Center where he had been a resident since March. He was born on February 11, 1925, in the Town of Lincoln, rural Fall Creek, to Fred and Lucy (Stabenow) Wilhelm. As a child he attended school in Fall Creek.  

Elmer married Betty Jean Steinke on May 12, 1948, and together they farmed and raised their family in Fall Creek. After the sale of their dairy herd, Elmer continued raising beef cattle. Elmer spent many years loading snow with his John Deere tractor for the Village of Fall Creek. Each spring he plowed gardens in Fall Creek with his Ford tractor. He had owned his own milk route for a number of years and also worked as a carpenter. Elmer was an avid Cricket fan and supported his two sons and daughter during their sports careers. As a young adult, he played basketball in the YMCA Young Men’s and Senior Leagues. He also played fast pitch softball as well as baseball. He loved and followed the Badgers and Cubs for many years. He was a life-long member of St. James Trinity Lutheran Church in Fall Creek.  

Elmer is survived by his two sons, Steven (Bonnie) of Amery, Michael (Jeanne) of Fall Creek; and daughter, Diane of Onalaska; four grandsons, Marcus (Melissa) of Blaine, Minnesota, Brent of Hopkins, Minnesota, Matthew of rural Fall Creek and Aaron of Fall Creek; two great- granddaughters, Madison and Maya Wilhelm; sister-in-law, Beatrice Wilhelm; brother-in-law, Richard Johnson; and well-loved nieces, nephews and extended family members.  

Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, on April 26, 2006, his parents, brother Lawrence and sister, Dorothy Johnson.  

Friends and family may call from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2013, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with the funeral service immediately following the visitation at 4:00 p.m.. Pastor Joanne Sorenson of St. James Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Internment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday in the Trinity Cemetery in Fall Creek.
