Kathy Suckow
Kathleen D. Suckow, 61, of Augusta, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 17, 2013, at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona, where she had been a resident since November.

Kathleen Dawn Suckow, daughter of Ewald and Dorothy (Eaton) Reetz was born April 18, 1951 in Black River Falls. She was raised in Augusta, where she attended Russell Corner Country School and graduated in 1969 from Augusta High School. Following graduation she worked in Eau Claire and made her home with her Aunt Marjory. She was united in marriage to Jerry Ray Suckow in Menomonie. The couple lived and raised their son in Menomonie, before moving to Boyceville. During this time in her life she was a stay at home mother and worked with the safety patrol of River Heights Elementary School. After her husband passed away on July 6, 1984, she moved with her son Patrick back to Augusta. She had worked at Bush Brothers Canning Company before entering the C.N.A. Program at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire. She had been employed at the Augusta Area Nursing Home and Fairchild Healthcare Center before the birth of her daughter Stephanie. She eventually returned to the work force, working at Mail Source in Augusta and Fall Creek, and cleaning at Oakwood Mall in Eau Claire and the Augusta Elementary School.

Due to ill health she was forced to retire early. For many years she helped Jan Krueger with his involvement with the Augusta Athletics Baseball Team. In earlier years Kathy had enjoyed spending time in her large garden. She also spent many hours working cross word puzzles, knitting and doing cross stitch. She loved socializing with family and friends and taking pictures whenever possible.

She will be deeply missed by her son, Patrick (Jessy Rudy) Suckow of Eau Claire; daughter, Stephanie Leland of Augusta; mother, Dorothy Reetz of Augusta; 2 sisters, Sonja (Jim) Schick of Eau Claire, Barbara (Damon) LaRose of Augusta; brother, Butch Reetz of Augusta; 3 grandchildren, Kayla Suckow, Cody Blanchard and Jadyn Suckow; dear friend Douglas Leland of Augusta; other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her father in July of 1995.

A visitation will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta on Thursday, March 21, 2013 starting at 1:00 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 5 p.m. Burial will be in the Tramway Cemetery in rural Menomonie.
