Harold Strauch
Harold W. Strauch, 74, of rural Eau Claire, had a peaceful departure from this life on Oct. 21, 2013 at the Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona.

Harold Walter Strauch was born on Sept. 22, 1939 in Eau Claire to Walter and Anna (Wathke) Strauch.
He was baptized on Oct. 22, 1939 at Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant Valley Township and confirmed in the Christina faith on June 27, 1954 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Fall Creek.
Harold attended Jobs one room country school through the 8th. grade and then went to Fall Creek High School. Harold was a farmer at heart who was very dedicated to the farming business. He was milking a herd of cows up until about 1990 and then went into raising beef cattle. He also raised pigs until 2011. Harold gave up farming due to health problems 2 years ago. Harold had a number of canine companions over the years he farmed. One of his favorites named Lassie loved to ride on the tractor with him. They were pictured together in the Country Today farm paper.

Harold was a private person, who enjoyed listening to old time music on the radio in the morning, playing on the church dartball team, and wetting a fishing line now and then.
He is survived by his brother, James of Brackett; 2 aunts, Lorraine Wathke of Eau Claire and Florence Strauch of rural Osseo; several cousins and his dog Tuffles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Anna.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Foster, with Pastor Dennis Voss officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Washington Township, rural Eau Claire. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
