Barbara Halmar
Barbara C. Halmar, 72, formerly of Eau Claire, passed away Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 at Alexian Village Health Center in Milwaukee.
Barbara, daughter of Francis and Elsie “Lettie” (Lashbrook) Booton was born Sept. 5, 1941 in Tuscola, Illinois. . She attended Northern Illinois University, receiving as BS in Business Administration. She was united in marriage to Mark Halmar in March of 1967 at Lake St. United Methodist Church in Eau Claire, the couple later divorced. She lived in Eau Claire for 40 years from the mid-sixties to 2005. She had worked at the Chippewa Valley Technical College from the late-eighties to 2000. While in Eau Claire, Barbara was a member of Lake Street United Methodist Church, where she was very active in the Sunday school program and with compassion ministries.
Barbara will be deeply missed by her 2 sons and 10 grandchildren; son, Tim and Lynn Halmar of Brown Deer, WI, and their children, Lindsay, Quinton and Yoshi; son, Dan and Erica Halmar of Apple Valley, MN, and their children, Nicholas, Noah, Hannah, Emma, Ian, Abigail and Silas; brother Phillip and Judy Booton of The Village, Florida; sister Linda Jo and John Olson of Maple Grove, MN; niece Katie Carlson and nephews, Brady and Nathan Booton. She was preceded in death by her parents and former husband Mark Halmar.
Funeral services will be held Sat. Dec. 28, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at Lake Street United Methodist Church in Eau Claire with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery in Washington Township. Friends may call 1 hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
